Design Patricia Urquiola
The Theo coffee table, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, reinterprets the principles of Neoplasticism and the early 20th-century avant-garde, with a clear reference to the work of Theo van Doesburg, co-founder of the De Stijl movement together with Piet Mondrian in 1917.
With a progressive reduction of decorative elements, Theo becomes a small architectural composition where solids and voids alternate in balance. The side panels turn into geometric partitions, while the 19 mm thick transparent glass top reveals the structure underneath, letting space and light flow through.
The colour palette moves away from De Stijl’s primary colours, choosing instead soft pastels and natural shades for a more contemporary and refined aesthetic.
The structure is made of MDF with a matte lacquer finish and rounded edges. The 19 mm float glass top rests securely on the structure, supported by non-slip rubber pads.
