Foil Bonaldo Bookcase

The Foil Bonaldo Bookcase, designed by Maurizio and Silvia Varsi, takes its name from the world of sailing boats that appear to fly across the water at high speed. This sense of lightness is reflected in an intersection of slender metal and aluminium elements. Although structurally solid, the materials are used to create a visually light framework that draws attention to the books and objects displayed on it.

Foil is a modular wall-mounted bookcase. The system uses Metal Plus uprights in bronze or lead, matching Plus painted aluminium shelves and coordinated wall brackets. Shelves are available in 177 and 265 cm lengths. The final configuration is determined by the number, position and type of components selected; before an order is placed, Bonaldo requires a drawing of the proposed composition so that structural feasibility and the required components can be checked.

Shelf load:
- Maximum load 15 kg per shelf with evenly distributed weight

Composition rules:
- Distance between two upright columns: 86 cm
- Lateral shelf overhang beyond each upright: 44 cm
- The 177 cm shelf has 2 holes and must be positioned between 2 uprights
- The 265 cm shelf has 3 holes and must be positioned between 3 uprights
- Each upright column requires one set of 3 wall-fixing brackets
